In ancient Chinese cosmology the five planets were linked to the Five Elements (Wu Xing):
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water
Harmony among the planets symbolized Heaven’s approval of a ruler.

The Xia Dynasty (traditionally dated c. 2070–1600 BC) is described in later texts as China’s first hereditary dynasty. The alignment was labeled as the “Heavenly confirmation” of Yu the Great or his successors taking power
