Four-Planet Gathering in the North

185 BCE Chinese Alignment Book of Han
Historical image

Recorded: “The four planets gathered beneath Ziwei”, interpreted as Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus in close proximity.
This Event is recorded independently in Chinese and Babylonian observations, though the Chinese record describes only four planets.
It occurred in 185 BCE, during the consolidation phase of the Former Han state, made it especially potent. In Han cosmology, Ziwei symbolized the imperial palace of Heaven, mirroring the emperor’s court on Earth. Any unusual planetary gathering in this region was therefore read as a direct omen concerning imperial authority, legitimacy, or transition.
